Yesterday a person who trains for New Skeet (this someone who is a paid trainer.. who trains the dogs sent there for training after the owner has frigured out they have a dog that won't come when called and so forth) and a trainer in her own right for herding got to watch my spay working. She assessed my dog as having a serious confidence issue.
In this case the dog was working sheep, but it follows thru the entire training of the dog for anything including confidence in her handler.
The dog will be 5 years old in December and if I am to take her any further in anything, we need to take a big step BACK and work on her confidence (both in herself and in me as her handler).
Where would you startto build confidence in an older dog who does not look outwardly fearful?

agility obstacles. No need for speed just the obstacles and working as a team on balance beams and similar items.
