I know double handling helps but the dogs in the ring actually seek the corner while trotting out ahead of the handler.
Any suggestions to start a dog so she understands her job is to trot out and turn left at the ring corners?

to make my dog go deeper into the corner <which unlike horse showing really is not super important> I had the double handler helpers training mine <hubby and kids> turn back on the dog as the dog reached them then the next person would call the dog as the dog reached that other person and they turned the back on the dog then when get second person they get reward. have I confused you yet? terrible explanation lol

btw on the flour around the water source for your friend... if it is a rat they sniff their way to things and if the flour got up its nose it would not come closer lol

I second Yvonne's advice but I am completely lost on the rat snorting flour

So, what you are saying is to use Double handling to train the dog to know his job.
The rat ref is from another forum.... someone had water disappear from a pan over night and refilled the pan and it was gone again.. so I suggested laying flour down to reveal tracks....

yes use the double handling in ring training as well. You want her engaging her rear and pulling not just trotting along make a game of it.

The more you can train to get them excited to follow you the double handler the better. It is all about showing the will and power of the dog pulling to get to you make sure is trotting and not pacing though.
Lisa, the rat reference was on the forum you got me kicked from lmao, I looked in on it other day when it was just to damned hot to do anything.

Well again, I am sorry Yvonne. I hate false, fake ass people like that Xeph bitch. All the things you showed me she says about people on the same damn forums she smiles and talks to people on behind their backs! Not to mention she just really does'nt know shit about gsds and wants to treat people learning like that? Every dog she gets comes from a scum breeder and she wants to attack other people's dogs? I am a working line dog person but it is inexcusable how she treats people with German show lines considering she stands up for her crippled and weak temperament AKC show line bitch? I about died that day I saw the dog in the ring and saw how the owner behaves at the show. No mercy she needed exposing for the fraud and nasty bitch she is to people and how untrustworthy she is behind their backs. I do regret that the girl she attacked had mental disabilities and I did not know. I am sorry Yvonne yet again even though I took you to dinner as an apology.

Wow... a lot here I do not know about.. LOL. Just figured her for a fraud about a year and a half ago.. Strauss is her first GSD and Mirada is her second.. she had a nice bitch about two years ago but the breeder intercepted the dog and took her back. I never went on FB etc. or to a chat room but someone else I know did.. and she said that watcha see on that forum and what she is like in chat is quite different. Apparently she is very "sluttish" on those things. I have no need to get into all that.
I have not seen her dog in the ring.. tho the video she showed was not such a good dog. As for her, I can only say that an AKC handler needs to dress better and have a certain carriage and professionalism as well.
On that other forum a regular AKC show person with ACD's who just got his Gr. Ch on a dog outed her... and she has not had much to say since then ON the FORUM. He said that the dog was a BYB dog (dam and dam's line is missing a lot of information and OFA's are inconsistant).
FWIW, Questa is a Show Line dog but with the titles behind her, she is from show lines that work. I have been investigating breeding her into working lines. My breeder is looking at the same thing.. and we know that the SL folks will be snooty because of a cross to working lines and the WL folks may be disdainful of the SL....
.. but years ago it was all the same dog. IMO if I can breed dogs with the drive and work ethic of WL's and the looks and conformation of the SL I will have done what I set out to do.
Not sure.. maybe this should be in a different thread. LOL
BTW I admit and will do so right now, that I have a LOT to learn.

She had one before Strauss that died. She has also tried to get free or trade dogs from breeders in other breeds. I see a future collector and byb borderline puppy mill breeder in her future.

She has not been on that other forum much lately. She just moved into a house and I think there is a lot to do. She has been working with Molly Graf...
.. and is supposed to have or be getting some dogs to handle.
She got shut down by someone who has just Gr Ch. his Australian Cattle dog. He pointed out that what she says and what she does are quite different.
